The first open-source database for comparing and prioritizing the world’s top 30 greatest global challenges on shared metrics such as relative scale and death toll.

A deep dive into five major challenges, using systems analysis to identify the pressure points that can drive the highest overall impact with a focus on mobility solutions.

Data on many of the issues reviewed are often limited and inconsistent in quality. Many developing countries either fail to collect data systematically or do not report it consistently. This is particularly problematic for China and India, which have the largest populations in the world and significantly influence global assessments of these issues. As a result, the available data likely underestimate the true scale of these problems, especially in developing countries. Therefore, the reported figures should be seen as rough estimates and used primarily for comparison.
In extreme cases, where the scale of the problem in developing countries compared to developed ones is particularly challenging to assess, unrealistic ratios between global and developed-country figures may appear. Such cases are highlighted in red.

This research comes at a crucial moment in time. As many companies and investors navigate an increasingly complex landscape, strategic investments in high-impact solutions are more important than ever. The database and tool allow investors to take a data-driven approach to identifying where and how investments can drive the greatest change, illustrated with a detailed case study of the mobility sector.

By identifying the most urgent challenges and designing an approach to direct investments toward effective solutions, this research provides a blueprint for addressing significant challenges plaguing other sectors, allowing investors across the board to see the maximum impact per dollar invested in addressing the world’s most pressing challenges.
